Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship

Homo Faber Ausstellung

Johanna Törnqvist (@johanna.tornqvist), is a textile designer based in Gnesta, Sweden. ⁣ ⁣ After studying in Paris, New York, Japan and Stockholm Johanna started her career by working as a fashion designer. However, after being exposed to the unsustainable realities of the fashion industry, Johanna was inspired to take a different course. ⁣ ⁣ Today, Johanna combines haute couture with environmental sustainability. She crafts her jewellery and garments out of recycled textiles, plastics and trash produced by herself. She transforms valueless materials into objects that are bespoke and precious. ⁣ ⁣ Her work explores questions about sustainability and the environment, and contributes to the ongoing debate about the unsustainable fashion industry.⁣ ⁣ Visit homofaberguide.com , download the app or click the link in our bio to discover a multitude of talented makers across Europe. ⁣ ⁣ #MichelangeloFoundation #HomoFaberGuide #ExperienceExcellence #MasterArtisan #ArtisanOnInstagram #Craftsmanship #Design #Crafts⁣ ⁣ Fredrik-Sederholm © All Rights Reserved⁣ Johanna Törnqvist © All Rights Reserved

Meet Eva Zethraeus (@ezeth), a Ceramicist from Gothenburg, Sweden. ⁣ ⁣ Eva’s eye-catching ceramic sculptures are inspired by her passion for mathematics, science and nature. In recent years, Eva has focused on a study of the golden ratio and a continued investigation into the Fibonacci sequence occurring in nature. Through her pieces she explores the theme of recurrence, questioning the meaning of harmony, and investigating what makes certain forms more appealing than others.⁣ ⁣ Her pieces certainly have intriguing forms, and reflect her experimental style. A love of art was instilled in Eva from a young age, a visit to the Prado Museum left her enamoured with Hieronymous Bosch’s painting El Jardin de las Delicias. An admiration which has stayed with her and inspired her artistic journey from painting and drawing to ceramics. Today, through her experimental techniques Eva has found a way to communicate through the medium of ceramics.⁣ ⁣ Visit homofaberguide.com , download the app or click the link in our bio to discover a multitude of talented makers across Europe.⁣ #MichelangeloFoundation #HomoFaberGuide #ExperienceExcellence #MasterArtisan #ArtisanOnInstagram #Craftsmanship #Design #Crafts ⁣ Eva Zethraeus © All Rights Reserved

Meet rising star Raili Keiv (@railikeiv).⁣ ⁣ Raili was struck by porcelain the moment she first encountered it. She learned to pair porcelain with other materials such as wood and concrete, through trial and error and guidance from experienced master artisans. She champions collaborating with other artisans and has a passion for experimenting with mediums. ⁣ ⁣ The quest for both perfection and function inspires her tableware pieces, resulting in clean forms and finishes. Often unseen situations arise during her creative process, meaning that each piece doesn’t match exactly the original design, but Raili embraces this element of surprise. Her recent series, Porcelain Meets Wood, was created as a tribute to her homeland, Estonia, where half of the territory is covered by forests.⁣ ⁣ Visit homofaberguide.com , download the app or click the link in our bio to discover more Estonian Artisans.⁣ ⁣ #MichelangeloFoundation #HomoFaberGuide #ExperienceExcellence #MasterArtisan #ArtisanOnInstagram #Craftsmanship #Design #Crafts⁣ ⁣ Matthias Ritzmann © All Rights Reserved Raili Keiv © All Rights Reserved⁣ Epp Kebu © All Rights Reserved Kartrin Press © All Rights Reserved

Karin Mölder is an incredible glassworker from Polva, Estonia.⁣ ⁣ One holiday, Karin visited a traditional Danish glass studio, and from there her passion for the craft was ignited. She immediately immersed herself in the art, gathering knowledge from masters of the field. She has won several awards and earned recognition during her 10 year career.⁣ ⁣ Karin gathers the sand she works with from the village of Taevaskoda. The sand resonates with her soul, and its different tones give her the inspiration she needs to create her work. She sees dimensions and the composition of patterns in front of her eyes and combines these with other stimuli, such as her Grandmother’s rug patterns. ⁣ ⁣ From this visualisation, she begins her meticulous process that can sometimes take up to four months, to create striking pieces with unique textures and forms. Karin believes that refined work does not make a masterpiece but instead the free flow of spontaneity is the key to real creativity.⁣ ⁣ Visit homofaberguide.com , download the app or click the link in our bio to explore the craftsmanship Europe has to offer.⁣ ⁣ #MichelangeloFoundation #HomoFaberGuide #ExperienceExcellence #MasterArtisan⁣ #ArtisanOnInstagram #Craftsmanship #Design #Crafts⁣ ⁣ Karin Mölder © All Rights Reserved⁣ Maris Savik © All Rights Reserved
