After being trained at John Makepeace’s Hook Park College in Parnham, Richard Lee and his partner Jane Dennison decided to revive the tradition of Victorian shepherds’ huts:
Creating huts on the highest level of craftsmanship, combining leading edge techniques rooted in traditional manufacturing skills.
Plankbridge’s contemporary shepherds’ huts combine old-style shepherd’s romanticism with all the luxury, indulgence and comfort of our modern lifestyle: a night in the hut is never-to-be-forgotten.
Clients of Richard and his talented hutmaking team, who produce and improve their huts constantly for the last 20 years, is the National Trust as well as the award-winning Pig Hotel and a wide range of private customers whose individual claims and wishes came true.
In the meanwhile, Plankbridge’s huts - standing the test of British weather - can be found all over the world: f.e. in New York, Portugal, Switzerland and France.
3 VERSIONS OF HUTS
- THE SNUG The basic version, based on the proportions of traditional Victorian huts.
- THE CABIN Wider than the Snug and almost a complete home. It provides space for a shower room, a basin, W/C, a kitchen dresser, an oven and a cosy living and sleeping room.
- BESPOKE HUTS Almost no wished remain unfulfilled.
